Everything's coming up comfortable for Brooke Shields.
The supermodel hit the red carpet at the 2024 Tony Awards in New York City on June 16 wearing one very interesting accessory: bright yellow Crocs. (See every star at the Tonys here.)
But why exactly did Brooke pair her yellow Monique Lhuillier gown with such interesting footwear?
As Brooke exclusively told E! News, "I had to buy Crocs because I had double foot surgery three days ago."
"I'm not taking any of the pain meds," she continued. "You know what? It just is what it is." (For more from Brooke and the 2024 Tony Awards, tune into to E! News tonight, June 17 at 11 p.m.)
But as the 59-year-old—who made her Broadway debut in 1994 as Rizzo in Grease—explained, she would have done anything to make sure she was there to honor the theater.
"They've kept me alive when nobody else wanted me," she said. "Theater took me in."
"To me, this is a beautiful moment to celebrate theater and the entire theater community," she continued, "and the stagehands and the chorus and the ensemble and all the people that have kept me alive every Broadway show I've done."
In recent months, Brooke—who shares daughters Rowan, 21, and Grier, 18, with husband Chris Henchy—has spoken openly about aging and this new chapter of her life.
"Yeah, things ache," she told Allure in June. "And I wish I could sleep more. I wish everything was higher. I wish I didn't need kinesiology tape to bring my knees up to where they should be."
But despite the changes, the Mother of the Bride star is still finding the joy in getting older.
"I am more youthful now than I was in my youth," she added. "My energy, my confidence, my lack of self-judgment. The negative tapes that I played [in my mind]... they don't play anymore. They're all stretched out."
