LOUISVILLE, Miss. (AP) — A two-vehicle crash in Winston County killed six people, including four children, authorities said.
The crash happened just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday on Highway 14 in the county about 100 miles (160 kilometers) northeast of Jackson, the Mississippi Highway Patrol said. Authorities told news outlets that a 2013 Kia Rio was traveling east when it collided with a 2013 Nissan Maxima that was traveling west on the highway.
Troopers said Laqerious R. Brown, 22, of Macon, the driver of the Nissan, died. Sara L. Batchelor, 25, of Sebastopol, the driver of the Kia, and her four passengers — a 16-year-old girl, a 6-year-old girl, a 3-year-old boy, and a 1-year-old girl — also died in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
